When I write about medicinal plants, I often come across plants I have never seen before or would not have recognised. In such cases, I try to find a specimen to photograph and study, but this may not be possible as medicinal plants may only grow in remote habitats. Where possible I try to grow some as was the case for my recent post on medicinal valerian. Today, I am posting photos of a plant that took me two years to grow. Perhaps, you may know it but for me it was a fascinating new plant (many call it wild) that lead to one of the most widely-used medicines. If you know of someone who has had a thrombosis (blood clot) they may well be on the drug. This story will follow in a separate post. For today, as a mystery, I shall simply show you photos of the pretty plant that has cheered my garden over the past two years and, with flowers for the last few weeks.
